COVID Safety Posters and Governor Abbott's Executive Order on Essential Services

Please find COVID Safety Posters in English and Spanish for your work sites as well as an Employee Safety Poster for your offices, showrooms and warehouses.  It is recommended that you post these posters at all of these locations.  Many GSABA members have been taking the attached posters to office centers and having them enlarged and laminated.

Governor Abbott just issued his new executive order today at 2:00pm that designates essential services statewide based on the CISA 2.0 guidance released on Saturday.  It is intended to supersede local restrictions/prohibitions on essential services by local governments.  Please see attached and this website.

Many members have called or emailed to inquire about the shutdown of residential construction in Austin and Travis County.  The intent of this Executive Order is to supersede local restrictions on residential construction.

Over the past several days, I have been speaking with different City and County representatives across GSABA’s 22 county jurisdiction.  Representatives from the City of San Antonio and Bexar County have expressed that they have no plans to  ‘stop’ contractors, construction workers, etc. but they will be continuing to make sure that all workers on construction sites were in compliance with the City’s Emergency Declaration.

I spoke with someone in Kendall County that said County Officials and City Employees would be doing drive by inspections to make sure that workers on construction sites were practicing social distancing and if they saw violations that possible ‘Cease and Desist’ orders would be issued to the Builder.

Doug McMurry, the Executive Vice President for the San Antonio Chapter of AGC, shared with me this morning that they have one report of multiple news crews at an active commercial construction site.   It is crucial that your employees follow the social distancing guidelines.
