The Greater San Antonio Education Foundation
The mission of the Greater San Antonio Education Foundation (GSAEF) is to foster an environment in the San Antonio area that promotes a home and future for every person and family.
GSAEF will promote this end by developing in the housing industry economic growth, housing affordability, professionalism, and continuing job skills through scholarships, seminars, specialized training, and various on-going projects that give to the community.
The Greater San Antonio Education Foundation is incorporated by the State of Texas, and is an IRS 501 (c)(3) non-profit entity.
GSAEF has partnered with HUD and the City of San Antonio to promote quality affordable housing in some of San Antonio’s most economically challenged neighborhoods. Past efforts have resulted in increased development in these areas, benefiting homeowners, business owners and school districts. The 2011 Tierra del Sol Affordable Showcase of Homes in City Council District 7 currently under development will generate the construction of 31 high-quality, affordable homes.
Through our partnership with city of San Antonio and Merced Housing of Texas, GSAEF has participated in housing rehabilitation “Sweeps” through lower income neighborhoods. This program provides housing repairs for qualifying elderly or disabled homeowners while improving their quality of life and increasing property values. For more information on the “Sweeps” project, please go to www.mercedhousingtexas.org
To continue the advancement of the building industry, GSAEF gives annual scholarships to construction management students at Texas A&M University, University of Texas at San Antonio and St. Phillip’s College.
Funds are generated for the scholarship program through construction of the ‘Charity Home’. The Greater San Antonio Education Foundation has partnered with Armadillo Homes to build the 2011 Charity Home. Through generous donations of labor and materials, the proceeds from the sale of this home will go to fund future scholarships. For more information on participating in the 2011 Charity Home, please contact Ashley Bordas at firstname.lastname@example.org.
